Many different magical abilities are performed by unicorn ponies and are widely accepted in Equestria, given their usefulness to the civilised lands. Many magical powers can be universal to unicorn ponies, such as telekinesis, teleportation or temporarily conjuring wings. Some unicorn ponies can even have a specific theme related magical power that suits their cutie mark. All magic which benefit the individual and community are tolerated within Equestria, even having schools developed to enhance the magical abilities some ponies have. Equestria accept the philosophy that "Magic is there to benefit all of us."
However, with the use of magic comes forbidden magic, which has been banned from all of Equestria. Commonly they are known as curses. Only performed by the evil ponies and widely used only by the Followers of Abyssal. These two main curses are 'Necromancy' magic which involves death, corpses and pain. And 'Mind Control' which involves spells that mentally manipulate others into doing the bidding of the controller. However, curses are not limited to evil unicorn ponies who have the innate abilities to easily perform these spells. Many other curses can be performed by earth and pegasus ponies, though it involves the harder method of obtaining potions or rituals.
